About Our Office

We've recently moved! Find us next to Southern Financial Consultants and across from Sue's Burgers.

Our Story

Our office has rapidly grown to include an attorney, one paralegal, and two legal assistants. Each enthusiastic member of our legal team is ready to help you and your case. We're here to listen, to work with you, and do our best to get the results you need.

Meet The Team

Sarah Owensby

I am Sarah Kristine Owensby.  I attended The Citadel Military College and obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in May 2005.  I obtained my Paralegal Certification from University of Georgia and my Juris Doctor (law degree) from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School.  Since the early 2000s, I have worked as a legal assistant, probation officer, victim advocate, and a certified paralegal. I became a licensed attorney in October 2018 and opened my own practice in Fannin County on February 1, 2019.

My family and I live in Fannin County, so having my office here has definitely allowed me to help members of my community and be there more often for my boys.  I love spending time with my husband, Philip, and my boys.  I enjoy watching college football and seeing my boys play baseball.

Two of my favorite statements (that are actually written on post-it notes on my desk) are:

(1) So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10; and

(2) Preparedness is the opposite of anxiety and fear.

April Israel

I am April Israel. I am the newest Paralegal at the Law Office of Sarah K. Owensby! I attended Valdosta State University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I have eighteen years of experience in the Magistrate Court, serving at different times, as Deputy Clerk from 2003-2005, and again from 2018-2023. I served as Chief Clerk from 2005-2014, and as a Judge from 2016-2023. My career path has been committed to the justice system and helping people in our wonderful community.

Along with riding ATVs, I enjoy spending quality time with my son and my family. As a devoted mother, I especially enjoy watching my son experience anything for the first time.

Lisa T Shepherd wrote, “In Raising my children, I have lost my mind but found my soul.” This quote really resonates with my life, which is dedicated to my son, whom I love to the very foundations of my soul.

Philip Owensby

I am Philip Owensby. I am the Legal Investigator for The Law Office of Sarah K. Owensby. As a native of Fannin County, I take pride in my work to help our community. I believe that the commonplace, day-to-day conversations with people lead to trusting relationships between our law office and our clients.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my amazing wife Sarah. I enjoy playing sports with my boys and spending quality time with my parents and my sisters. My weekends are often spent barbecuing and supporting my Dawgs from my couch. For me, hunting, shooting and fishing are a way of life.

I’ve always liked Yogi Berra and his Yogi-isms, but recently I’ve come up with my own:

“It will feel better when it stops hurting.”
